All About Me!
“Success isn’t about how much money you make, it’s about the difference you make in people’s lives” — Michelle Obama
Hello! I’m Jessie. Thank you for visiting my website!
Deciding to buy a home, refinance, or make plans for your financial future is a MASSIVE decision. And that's why I'd love to share a little bit more about myself so that you can learn a little bit about me before we get to map out your financial future!
I’ve been a Mortgage Broker for coming up to a decade, and the time has really flown by! I often am asked, “Why did you decide to become a Mortgage Broker?” … My answer is not what everyone expects, and although it isn’t the normal path, I wouldn’t change it for the world. I applied for a job right out of high school as a Realtor’s Assistant. At the time, this job was perfect for me as I had a passion and love for real estate, and my long-term goal was to become a realtor. The realtor that I was working for was also a Mortgage Broker. After about a year of working for her, she offered me an opportunity that I just couldn’t pass up! Luckily for me, she saw some potential in me as a Mortgage Broker and offered to put me through schooling to obtain my license and become her licensed assistant. Fast forward 10 years and I have never looked back. It is the BEST decision I have ever made (besides marrying Matt and having my two beautiful children).
I love being a Mortgage Broker for so many reasons. My favourite part (and the most meaningful to me) is that I have the opportunity every single day to help families realize their dreams or take steps towards their future goals. I love helping my clients feel confident and informed about the decisions that they are making and guiding them to make sound financial decisions and I truly believe that hard work triumphs all. I don’t claim to be the smartest person in the room or a savant of the financial world, but I know one certain thing… my work ethic is next to none. I truly care about each and every one of my clients. I will do everything possible to find the best solutions for my clients.
Now, enough about my career, let me tell you a little bit more about me!
I live and work in beautiful Maple Ridge, British Columbia, with my husband Matt (a high school teacher), my not so little boy Noah, my feisty baby girl Audrey, our golden retriever Bodhi, and our beloved cat Noodles.
And now here’s for the flash round! Here are a few tidbits about me:
Women I Admire: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Arlene Dickenson, and women who are not afraid to be in a “Man’s World.” Against all odds, they have broken through the stereotypes and climbed to the top through perseverance and hard work.
Hidden Skill: I played a high soccer level from a very young age until a few short years ago.
Thee Words That Describe Me: Empathetic, caring, and easy-going.
On Sunday Mornings, I Can Be Found: Coffee, coffee, and more coffee… and lounging with the little ones. As most of my friends and family will attest to, I’m slightly a workaholic; so over the past few years, I have really tried to make an effort to take Sundays off. Although not always easy, it’s a constant work and progress, and I really try to just focus on my family and kids on Sundays.
Favourite Activity with Noah: Playing outside, anything! In the rain, in the sun, hiking, just out and running around on a field!
Favourite Activity with Audrey: Right now, reading! She is such a busy body, and unlike Noah, she is NOT a snuggler. But she is mesmerized by books, so she will sit contently on my lap while I read her a story. It’s the only time to get some real snuggles.
Favourite Local Restaurant: Earls, die-hard!
Favourite Wine: Any red wine, but always try and support BC!
Proud Career Moment: Winning the A-List award for the favourite Mortgage Broker in Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows!
5 Year Goal: I have had one goal in my mind since I became a broker, and now that my kids won’t be babies for much longer, I think nows the time. I have aspirations of being top 50 in Dominion Lending in the next 5 years.
Daily Habits: I read before bed almost every night; I try to exercise daily- mostly for my mental health over anything else, have coffee of course! I’m hoping to add daily meditation to my routine!
Favourite Trade Publication: Be The Better Broker series by Dustan Woodhouse.
